[Plugin: Genesis Simple Hooks] Genisis Simple Hooks returns 500 error when installed

When I install Genesis Simple Hooks, I receive the following error in the admin area

HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

I can’t access any part of the admin panel until the plugin is deleted via ftp.
