• WordPress version: 3.4.1 Multisite Network

I did this: Activate plugin, go to Google Analytics under Settings. Click here to authenticate with Google, Grant Access

I expected the plugin to do this: Bounce back to WordPress and ask which site I’d like to track.

Instead it did this: Unfortunately, an error occurred while connecting to Google, please try again: Re-authenticate with Google

  • This is my problem. Installed the google-analytics-for-wordpress it will not activate properly. I Go to Setting>Google Analytics and when I try to Autghenticate, get this.

Google Analytics is not active. You must select which Analytics Profile to track before it can work.

    And told to try again.

I always had problems installing Google Analytics in different places and get it going.
    Portes et fenêtres sur mesure

Fixed the problem by doing by the HTML code. Ever since I upgraded to 3.4.2 had the problem, still I now know how to fix it.

I also had the same problems mentioned above (using WordPress 3.3.2)
    – GA for WordPress plugin installed but no Google Analytics dashboard not showing visits
    – tried re-authenticating but had error messages from Google

Eventually uninstalled the plugin and put the tracking code in the header manually.

This also seemed to solve another problem that I had been having, that whenever I edited the header.php file all my plugins were de-activated and I had to re-activate each one. May be co-incidence but the early signs are that the admin is more stable without this plugin

@andrewjstein – Thanks for your reply! Been busy doing everything else for a couple of weeks. I′ll check out those links.

Hi Guys!! maybe you can give me a hand here…
I installed the plugin, I authenticate it withouth problems. It’s seems to be perfectly associated with one of my GA websites.
The problem is that it just doens’t work in GA. When I go to visitors – custom variables there’s nothing.
Any idea why can this be happening? How to solve it?
    Thanks!!!

    Hello brank87!
How long time did pass between you installing and setting it all up and going into GA looking for results? As I recall it took a while for it to show up, 24 hrs or so. So maybe it could be as easy as “time missing” ??

Looking forward to hear how things work out for you.

Hi Cecilia! Thanks for your answer!! It was exactly that! Now, after 12 hours it’s working. Thanks!

    Hello again!
You’re welcome! Glad that it worked out alright for you.
