I have now stopped using backup plugins, because I have not found one that is reliable. Instead, I use FileZilla to download my entire site (i.e. root folder and all the folders beneath it) to a folder on my PC. This is very quick, can be done in the background, and has the advantage that you know exactly when it was done. The cloud backup plugins take some time to do the backup, and you are never quite certain when a given file was backed up.
Also, if you just want a single set of backup files, you can download to the same folder every time, and set FileZilla to overwrite the old versions of files with the new ones.
You can back up the SQL database using the facilities provided by your hosting company, and then FTP it down to your PC, again using FileZilla. Or, if you are using PHPMyAdmin, you can just use Export to save the database to your computer.
I recommend this method; it is simple and quick!
