[Plugin: Google XML Sitemaps] does not work

I have installed and uninstalled several times, and now I simply get the messages:

# There was a problem writing your zipped sitemap file. Make sure the file exists and is writable. Learn moreat startup. It doesn’t let me try to make the files any more. I had gone in and created the two writable files via ftp. Nothing work. I am using theme ten twenty.
