• Hi,

I’m currently working on a new version of the plugin which will have some major changes. To test this new features, I need your help. You can grab the new version here:

    https://www.arnebrachhold.de/redir/sitemap-dl-beta/

Please note that it is in a very early stage and not suitable for production sites. Please also note that you have to delete your sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.gz after installation since they are not used anymore (but break the new plugin).

    What has changed:
    Dynamic sitemap generation
There are no static files anymore. This will solve 99% of the problems users are having. All content is generated dynamically.

    Sitemap Index File
To reduce the amount of needed CPU and memory, the sitemap is split into sub-sitemaps. The main sitemap file is now only a index file which links to them. With that change you can have an unlimited number of URLs as long as they are spread over multiple months.

    WordPress MU support
Without having static files, MU and multi-site support is no problem anymore.

    New developer API
With the new API, developers can build plugins which can create sub-sitemaps to support an unlimited number of items.

    Installation:

    • Install the plugin normally
    • Delete your existing sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.gz
    • Browse to https://www.yourblog.com/sitemap.xml if using rewrite permalinks, or index.php?xml_sitemap=index if not.

At the moment, WordPress 3.0 and PHP 5.2 is the only tested configuration. Please let me know if you have problems with other setups.

Working with a5. But the custom post type pages are not indexed.

Ability to choose which custom post_types to add to the sitemap (in the admin panel) would be an awesome feature.

    Cheers.

I’ve been using it on https://capeinfo.com for a few weeks now and there seem to be no problems at all. Occasionally Google has a problem downloading a sitemap but if I resubmit it, it goes through fine.

Ok I need to move on with support on this, I really need a site map online. I will wait for a reply then tonight I will move on.

n2rga, could you try to re-save your permalink settings in WordPress? Maybe they were not registered successfully.

The plugin basically works, see https://bloginsphere.com/index.php?xml_sitemap=params=

Also please try if the new version (4.0b1) fixes your problem:

Why is the last updated date = 1999-11-30 00:00 for my home page?

I have the value for ‘sm_in_posts’ set to false but it is still generating a sitemap for posts.

tried Getting the new one(beta) and seems wordpress’s plugin download section took a dump.

I clicked the link https://bloginsphere.com/index.php?xml_sitemap=params= and yes I saw the sitemap for https://bloginsphere.com/sitemap-misc.xml and others bu8t not sitemap.xml
    what could be causing this?
I will keep trying the download of the new one. You have the best sitemap creation program around and it does work on my other sites great.

Tried new version b1 and same thing will not show the sitemap.xml
    Any recommendations?

    Hello

I installed latest beta on 3.0 running multisite.

    It seems to work fine.

The only thing is that it only shows 12 posts on -posts file, while I have 20.

Is there a limiting option somewhere?

    Thanks

    @josextrema
Do you have a membership type plug-in installed that limits access.
I do and noticed this myself.

    @n2rga

No membership plugins in this install.

I’m only using mailpress, statcounter, redirection and google xml sitemaps.

Other than the limited number of posts on the sitemap.xml, the plugin seems to work great on all the sites in the network.

@all: Please try the new 4.0b2 version which should fix some bugs:

    https://www.arnebrachhold.de/redir/sitemap-dl-beta/

@rlmckenney: The date should be the date of your last posting or the static page if you’ve chosen in WordPress to display a static page as your frontpage.

@webjunkie: Fixed in 4.0b2, thanks for the note!

@n2rga: The 4.0b2 version adds the rewrite rules in a different way then before, can you try if it works now? If not, could you install the AA Rewrite Viewer and check if they are added? You should see them on the plugin panel within “extra_rules_top” under “feeds”.

@josextrema: there are no limits, so it should include all your published posts. Could you provide a link to your site?

    Thank you all for testing!

Thank you very much for this plugin. I installed this version. Everything is working. I am just getting some errors in Google Webmaster Tool for sitemap-tax-category.xml:
    Parsing error
We were unable to read your Sitemap. It may contain an entry we are unable to recognize. Please validate your Sitemap before resubmitting.
    Invalid XML tag
This tag was not recognized. Please fix it and resubmit.
And the file is actually empty. I guess the reason is that I do not have any category in the main site of my multisite website.

solvedproblemscom, thanks for your feedback. Could you post a link to the not working category sitemap or the source code on pastebin? It would be good to know if there is an error, because if it just empty Google shouldn’t say that there was an invalid tag…
