• I am using the latest version of WordPress with the latest version of Header Image Slider and a child theme of Twenty Eleven.

Header image slider works great… as long as I only want to use the default images. I don’t seem to have the option to use uploaded images at all. This is very frustrating. I have tried uploading images directly to the header images file in the twenty eleven theme (as well as creating the equivalent directory in my child theme and uploading them there). The plugin does not see them no matter what I do.

What am I missing? Please advise.

D’oh! Figured it out. I’m leaving this hear for others who may suffer from the same density.

To use uploaded images you have to first have at least two images uploaded through appearance —-> Header. Then the slideshow option will appear.

I know this should seem obvious but maybe add a note to your faq or installation instructions?

    Hello,

Yes i do agree, this is an AWESOME plug-in….. the best i ‘ve found, but i spent days myself searching for the reason why i cannot understand how to upload custom images….. I had only 1 test picture in the folder.

Thank you tacomama, your post helped me to find the solution into this, and it would be a good idea to add this into the notes of the plug-in, i agree.

    Best wishes & friendly salutations,

Hey, I’m new to WordPress, and I am stuck trying to get this plugin to work with Theme Twenty Eleven.

I uploaded it. And got it to work when I used “Enable Auto-Insert the Slider” —

But doing that made my menu disappear!

So then it says “Otherwise disable this and use the boom_header_image() template tag.

But I can’t find ANY documentation that explains HOW to use that. No email for the developer.

So I am stuck. Can either of you help me out?

Are you sure you don’t just have a CSS issue with your menu? Look at the source and make sure it’s really not there and not just hidden.

    A little bit on boom_header_image

I think I originally set mine up with a conditional statement like the one in that link, works fine.

I went back and reloaded and used “Enable Auto-Insert the Slider”.

I then reloaded the page and it works as before.

Now – I used firebug – and you are exactly right. The navigation is hidden.

The slider looks to be governed by a div of the class=”slider-wrapper theme-default”

I found the style in slider.css.php and added top-margin.

    Poof – there it is.

My only question is – will that style be overwritten when the plugin is updated sometime in the future?

Is there a way to add that style to my child theme styles so it won’t be overwritten?

Thanks for the help by the way. That was very cool and extremely timely!

Yes, just add that style to your child theme’s style.css file. You shouldn’t need to mess with slider.css.php at all. If you find that you don’t have enough classes to work with you could always add a wrapper around the header region in your child theme’s header.php file.
