I installed a version of intensedebate on my blog and everything was working correctly, until i decided to link the wordpress site with a different intensedebate account.

I uninstalled the website link from the intensedebate account (under manage blogs), uninstalled and deleted the plugin from wordpress. When I re-installed/re-activated the plugin, I put in the new instantdebate info in the login/password. At that point everything looked like it was working correctly.

Then when I clicked to moderate comments I got a message saying I was not an admin for the account. The WordPress site was not linked with the new intensedebate account. I checked the old intensedebate and account, and the website was there, under “manage blogs”

Any ideas for how to resolve this? Does intensedebate leave something in MySQL that is not deleted when you uninstall the plugin?

    Thanks,
    Jenny

  • I have a similar issue, arguably a different instance of the same underlying reason. As long as on IntenseDebate.com you use a WordPress.com profile defined as the site “admin” for your site, everything’s hunky dory. However, I tried later to change the IntenseDebate user (by creating a new one) to match the profile of the self-hosted WordPress admin user, and that’s where the profile disconnect occurs.

Functionally speaking it still works – the biggest annoyance is the persistence of this message splashed on every WP admin page: “Connect to your IntenseDebate account. Go to your WordPress profile to log in or register.” There’s no way I can get rid of that.

So, it seems indeed that profile syncing and management is still a pending issue for IntenseDebate to smoothen out.

@nv1962: Same thing here. I was using one username as an admin and everything worked fine. I decided to give that username a different role (contributor, I think), and made the “admin” username my only admin. Jumped through what I thought would be all the necessary hoops to make sure IntenseDebate was fine with the switch, but I’ve ended up with the same message on top of every admin page: “Connect to your IntenseDebate account. Go to your WordPress profile to log in or register.” Trust me: the account info is definitely entered on my WordPress profile.

It seems to work fine otherwise, except when I clear my cookies. Then, going to my comments page shows me the typical annoying message PLUS asks for a login. No matter how many times I double-check, it won’t let me login. I just go to the intensedebate website and login (which works) and the cookie carries over to the WordPress admin, apparently.

Other than that, my biggest annoyance is that on my dashboard, all the spam and even deleted messages show up under “recent comments.” What’s up with that?

This seems to be a great product, but there are just a few bugs keeping me from enjoying it to the fullest.

Any word on this? Did I hear that the WordPress team purchased IntenseDebate? Will this mean tighter integration and more frequent updates? Help!

That sounds like it’s going to require some extensive digging. Please contact us via https://support.intensedebate.com/contact/

Yes, IntenseDebate was purchased by Automattic, Inc. Should everything work out accordingly, we’re working on some exciting new features that you should be seeing in the coming months.

Thanks, James. I’ll look you guys up over there.
