• Hey

I just want you to know that I got a client who called me whom was very angry and resulted in me losing the retainer. They said how can you put in a plugin that is blacklisted by Godaddy, obviously you are not as informed as you presented us.

Losing the job is my problem but the way Godaddy presents this is bull”” It leads those who do not understand to believe the plugin, the code, the name is not good and is a bad plugin to use.

I had the client setup on a shared hosting, light traffic site, which worked fine. Subsequently the client moved themselves to a wordpress hosting account at Godaddy, so that is why they got the email. I purposefully chose the shared hosting because the Manage WordPress hosting is a joke. Not only is it slower than shared hosting, administration of the hosting is limited to almost nothing.
Here is the link, and I certainly hope you address this with them. https://support.godaddy.com/help/article/8964/managed-wordpress-blacklisted-plugins

  • Wow. Really? Sorry, had to chime in on this post.

First, for GoDaddy’s part – they’re not slamming the plugin – they just say it’s duplicative functionality. WP Engine also bans this for the same reason. Your client overreacted on this point.

Second, you shouldn’t be hosting at GoDaddy AT ALL. IMHO, they’re a good domain registrar – and that’s it. Your client may have been spot on here.

Find a reliable host with a reseller account who knows how to manage WordPress and move on.
