Using The Retailer theme with the Custom Sidebars – Dynamic Widget Area Manager plugin on WP 5.2.3 and Woocommerce.

When the plugin is activated, The Site Admin -> Pages section shows for
Front page -> “Not available for Home Page”
Shop Page -> “Not available for WooCommerce Shop”

    I’ve checked….
    Go to the Widgets page
    Click on “Sidebar Location”
    Open the “Archive-Types” tab
    Choose “Front Page”
    and many other variables.

Also checked with the stock front pages that came with the theme. On those pages, the Sidebar all other components show up, except WOOF- Woocommerce Products Filter.

The plugin Download page does say, “Warning: This plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress.” but I really like the plugin so would like to get it working.

Is there a way to get this working with WP 5.2.3?
    Thank you.

  • Hi @tokyojohn,

The “Not available” messages are shown due to the archive page being used when you have a static home page selected for example and in that case the custom sidebar needs to be set by going to the Widgets page, click on “Sidebar Location”, open the “Archive-Types” tab
    and choose “Front Page”.

Note that Custom Sidebars can only replace existing sidebars, meaning that the theme needs to call a sidebar on that page to make it replaceable by Custom Sidebars.

However, the theme you are mentioning is a premium theme and unfortunately, I don’t have access to it in order to check this further.
Custom Sidebars shouldn’t have any issues with 5.2.3 WP version so it would be best to get in touch with your theme developers and ask them if the pages in question are loading sidebars and if default WP functionality is used for that.

    Cheers,
    Predrag
