[Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com] changed WP permissions causing JETPACK problems

Hi All,

after getting my server hacked and several sites taken down, im trying to boost my security and made some changes to permissions on files and folders that seem to be causing the below error messages for example when i try to modify a setting within the plugin interface.

could anyone please advise to a new comer where i should be looking to make the necessary changes and permissions tweeks, if indeed thats what the above error message is relating to.
