I had to delete Jetpack from my site because it was using too much CPU (or I assume it was). My web host took my site offline temporarily until I fixed the problem. I removed Jetpack because it was the plugin I had most recently added, and the CPU has gone way down.

It’s unfortunate because I really liked Carousel.

  • Try activating jetpack and turn off all the components bar the carousel and see if your cpu spikes.

On the main jetpack page, press learn more on each widget and a deactivate button appears for that component.

Tho it doesn’t make sense for it to do so….
Theres nothing that CPU intensive in jetpack, ‘cept maybe stats, but that offloads everything to a external server, the only thing that could be really is the spelling and grammer plugin, but that would only be during publishing….

Thanks for the advice. I thought it might be because of the stats, but if it’s like you say and goes to an external server, then I don’t know what could have caused it.

Hi, I think I’m having the same problem too. I’m dealing with high resource usage as well and after disabling every other plugin, I now disabled Jetpack to see how it affects the CPU.

@prekinders, did @barrycarlyon’s suggestion help you with the CPU usage?

Don’t know if this helps I was having a similar issue my dashboard was crashing turned out to be a conflict with NextGen Gallery and JetPack I can run both independently but not together.
By shutting off all the JetPack add ons I was able get them both running and turn back on Stats but Sharing, Contact Form, and Extra Widgets all crashed it again. Initially I was able to turn on Spelling and Gravatars as well but after Extra Widgets crashed it. It decided not to like those either. So for now I’m just running Stats.

@ Baris: I haven’t tried it again because I’m afraid my site will go down again. The CPU only spiked after installing Jetpack, and now that I deleted it, CPU has been normal for several days. My conclusion is that the problem is Jetpack.

It’s possible I could use Carousel and disable the other components, but I just haven’t been brave enough to try yet.
