I am trying to use theme P2 for a message board on my site, with all other pages being a different theme. When my main theme is the active theme, the message board looks fine but I get an oops not logged in message and cannot post. When P2 is the active theme, the message board works but my sidebars on the other pages are wrong and I lose most of the ability to work with the other pages. Any thoughts?

  • I’ll start by trying to recreate your problem on my test web sites. But two things would be helpful at this point:

    1. A link (URL) so that I can see your site, in case there are any clues there;
    2. What is your main theme?

I’ll update you here ASAP, so please Subscribe to this Topic if you haven’t already done so. Thanks!

I’ve been able to re-create your problem, and am looking into it right now. I’ll report back here as soon as I have either an answer or some questions for you.

This issue is specific to the theme P2 and its JavaScript. The underlying WordPress function is working correctly, but P2’s JavaScript (which calls the WordPress function) is where the problem lies.

I will continue to try and find a solution, but I cannot predict how soon I’ll have an answer.

    Thank you for your patience.

The problem is the use of wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?p2ajax=true&action=logged_in_out&_loggedin={nonce} within P2’s JavaScript to verify the user is logged on.

I’ll explore the possibilities of having the Multiple Themes plugin automatically set that Admin page’s theme to P2 whenever P2 is an available theme.

I now have this problem fixed. And will include the fix in the next version of the plugin, expected out this coming week.

To resolve your problem (and for anyone else reading this who is using the P2 Theme), I can provide a beta version immediately, if you contact me from here: https://jonradio.com/contact-us/

The assumption is that your Active Theme is NOT P2, and that you specify P2 for Site Home.

Version 3.2 has now been released, which incorporates the fix for P2 themes.

The problem that hobonat reports about sidebars has now been investigated, and a Workaround provided in the FAQ:
    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/jonradio-multiple-themes/faq/

A future version of the jonradio Multiple Themes plugin will eliminate the need for another plugin, as described in the FAQ Workaround.

hey jonradio, Im using your nice plugin, but it only works as spected when Im logged in as admin. The rest of users, cant see the settings setted on the plugin

There is nothing that the plugin does that would vary how it works logged in versus logged out. (the issue above is Theme P2-specific, and is the behaviour of P2, not the plugin) So,….

I would suggest you explore Caching as the possibly cause. Could you disable any Caching plugins you are using, and then test?

Another place that Caching could be occurring is within your web browser, so clearing your browser’s cache of Internet pages would be the next step. Or testing with a different web browser.

Finally, some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) do their own caching, but that would be a very unlikely source of your problem.
