    Hi James,

    What I mean by the shortcode is the tag you used in the body of your post to embed the player.

    An example would be something like the following:

    [jwplayer mediaid=”1″]

    Thanks.

    Thanks
    Here it is: [jwplayer config=”” file=https://www.dualnetworking.com/training/affiliatevideos/dualnetworkingaffiliatelink.mp4″”]

    OK I figured it out. Here is the tag that works. [jwplayer config file=”https://www.dualnetworking.com/training/affiliatevideos/dualnetworkingaffiliatelink.mp4″%5D

    I took the tag from the plugin page (the example) is just added my link in between but the inverted commas are in the wrong place. You can see what I mean by going to this page on your plugin download: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/jw-player-plugin-for-wordpress/other_notes/

    Step 7. says: Insert the following tag: [jwplayer config=”” file=””] into the body. is a url to your file.

    where the tag should be: [jwplayer configfile=”https://….”]

    Am I right in this?

    James

    The problem I have now is that it is causing “the hite screen of death” (page goes blank when I press publish). The information does get saved however it is very frustrating.

    This started happening as soon as I installed your plugin.

    Hi James,

    Looks like I’ll have to correct the Other Notes section. The description is unclear. If you downloaded the plugin using the download link on the plugin page you should have received a detailed PDF manual.

    From what I can tell the shortcode that should be put into your post should look like the following:

    [jwplayer file=”https://www.dualnetworking.com/training/affiliatevideos/dualnetworkingaffiliatelink.mp4″%5D

    When setting an attribute in the shortcode( file being an attribute in this case) the value you set it to has to be in quotes.

    The config attribute is only used when you want to specify a player other than the default. Otherwise you don’t need to include it.

    As for the white screen issue, I haven’t encountered that before. That’s something I’ll have to investigate. Do you know what’s caused it in the past for you?

    Thanks.

    thanks heaps.

    There are certain plugins that cause the white screen issue. Like this one and also SEO Pack believe it or not.

    Would love your input into this

    Hi, I use this plugin on my website https://www.videacesky.cz/ with subtitles and it’s great, but I have two questions.

    First: Some visitors (including me) experience quite serious problem. The YouTube video in JW player sometimes doesn’t play all the way to the finish. It stops sometimes 10 seconds before the end, sometimes 3… I don’t know what to do. I tried to set duration parameter to all of my videos, but the problem is still there. Can you help me, please?

    Second: Where can I find embed code for my videos? How can I add an icon to the player?

    Thank you very much in advance!

    @bugher0

    I will have to investigate the YouTube issue as I’m unsure what would be causing it.

    Can you explain what you mean by setting an icon for the player? Do you mean a thumbnail/preview image for a video?

    Thanks.

    Hello LongTail, the JW Player is not displaying the Youtube thumbnail image, I tried several plugins that use JWPlayer (WP-JW-Plugin, Flash Video and your own JW for WP plugin) and none of them displays the thumbnail image on YouTube videos.

    I also tried each of the plugins with different versions of the JW player, the latest 5.2, version 4.6 and an intermediate version, and neither plugin regardless of JW version shows the thumbnail image from YouTube. Most likely it’s a change on YouTube’s side, but it’s rather frustrating as Youtube is the premier video hosting site

    @bolonki

    I believe this is a result of YouTube switching the format of the URLs they are using. I’m working on a new update for the plugin which should be released soon so I’ll take a look into this.

    Thanks.

    Thanks LongTail, your plugin and support are greatly appreciated!

    Hi Longtail video,

    I’m getting pretty much the same error as the guy who started this topic.

    When I try to activate the JW Player 1.1.2, this error appears:

    The player.swf cannot be found at C:\wamp\www\Blog\wordpress-3.0\wordpress/wp-content/plugins/jw-player-plugin-for-wordpress/player.swf. The plugin will not work!

    I’m running wordpress on a localhost as you can see. When trying the previous version 1.1.1 I get the same error, but instead of two different slashes being used I got an error with …/www//blog/wordpress…

    I don’t see the player in my browser when going to this url:
    https://localhost/Blog/wordpress-3.0/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/jw-player-plugin-for-wordpress/player.swf

    If you could help me out it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    @eljinete,

    In this case it looks like you still need to download the player.swf from https://www.longtailvideo.com and place it in the jw-player-plugin-for-wordpress/ directory. That should hopefully fix your issue. If not feel free to post back.

    As a sidenote, our upcoming update of the plugin should mostly automate this process.

    Thanks.

    Yes ofcourse!
    I put the player accidentally in another folder. And I was looking at the xml file, that is also called player, the whole time.

    I have two more questions.

    Support for other external video sites than youtube. For example vimeo. Will this happen in the (near) future?

    About the Bekle skin: Is there anyway to change the opacity of the controlbar background to make it completely transparant, so only the white play button, progressbar en volume (white elements) will be seen without the grey/black around it?

    I got the player working so no problem there.

    Thanks!

    @eljinete,

    Vimeo is not something I can really add. They were not keen on us building the ability to play Vimeo videos into our player.

    In an upcoming update the .swf skins will be replaced with .png versions (this is a feature of the v5 JW Player) so you could edit the images themselves if you would like. There currently is no way to adjust the skins outside of modifying them directly.

    Hope this helps!
