• I’ve used the a plugin to put up a “maintenance” screen.

    Now, I cannot login.

I can assure you there was no warning, no notice, that I would not be able to log back in.

Do I need to pay some IT expert, here in my town, to let me back into my own site??

If and when I log into my website, do I need to remove and report such plugin?

In advance, thank you for you help

  • What exactly do you mean by you cannot login?

Are you not able to access the login page? https://poltergeistblue-vncc1eqf5z.live-website.com/wp-login.php

Or do you get some error when you fill and submit the login form?

    Hi George

    Thanks for your reply

I cannot reach my wordpress site’s dashboard

To be able to ask this question, I created a WordPress account.

To access my website, usually I go through the hosting company, and I reach my website’s dashboard.

As far as I know, I have no WordPress account related to my website.

Going, as usual, through the hosting company, I reach the “maintenance” page of my website, but now there’s nothing there for me to access my site’s dashboard.

    WordPress intuitive it ain’t.

Thanks anyway for your kind help

To be able to ask this question, I created a WordPress account.

The “WordPress account” you created here is ONLY for the www.ads-software.com website, where support is provided. The account you have here is totally separate from the account on your own website — the two are not linked in any way.

It seems you set up your WordPress site with an auto-installer provided by your host (IONOS). And it seems your hosting provider allows you to log in to your WordPress site using the same credentials you use to log in to their control panel (SSO).

On the link I provided above, don’t enter anything there… but click on the “Login with IONOS” and see if you can log in to your WordPress site with your IONOS hosting control panel credentials.

If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to access your WordPress site files using your host’s control panel, and navigate to the folder /wp-content/plugins/. There you’ll see a folder named coming-soon. Delete or rename this folder to disable the plugin you installed.

Note that you surely have a WordPress account for your own website — the auto-installer you used to install the site may have stored the credentials somewhere that you don’t know. After you get access to your site’s dashboard, I’ll recommend you go to the USERS screen. There you’ll find at least one user account with admin privileges on your site. I’ll recommend you create another admin account and store the credentials safely somewhere.

    Standing by.

George, thank you for your very informative reply. I’ll print it out and go through it, point by point. Cheers
