[Plugin: Lazy Load] Screws up Facebook OpenGraph

This issue actually goes much deeper than I thought guys.

If you go to Google and have the instant preview available… Google shows blank spot in place of images…. That looks really bad.

I tried this for TechCrunch’s site and they have a similar issue. I am assuming that they are using the same tag.

There is a need to serve noscript tag. I hope you guys can get that implemented.

I actually have created a plugin which works very similar to this one, but as the plugin i made outputs noscript elements, I believe you should be OK.

I’d be happy if you tried my plugin, BJ Lazy Load, and gave feedback on whether noscript fixes your issues. If not, I’ll do my best to fix them.

I also hope it is not considered bad conduct to tell about this plugin here. It does have the feature you’re asking for.

I really appreciate you writing because apparently the authors of Lazyload (whom have great credentials) didn’t even bother responding to my concerns.

I have switched to your plugin and its working like as it said. I will wait and see its impact on our google snapshots. Which is what we care the most for.

Will let you know. Also will do a writeup for you plugin on our site.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve added the noscript tags in v0.2. Though, worth noting that if you have the og:image tags added to your site, this shouldn’t be an issue.

Thanks for the fix. Works like a charm. Yes we had OG:Tags optimized. However it was still not able to see the image tags for some reason… in the debugger.

i wonder though…. what is the differences between bjorn’s and mohammad’s plugin seeing as they both do the same thing ?

Moogle: At the moment, they do seem to do exactly the same, and using pretty much the same method.

I don’t know what plans Mohammad and the other developers have, but one of my main goals is to serve size optimized images for responsive designs/adaptive layouts. I will also add timed (delayed) loading and support for iframes.

If I were you, I’d just go by my gut feeling, try one and see if it works ??

hm well i tried the plugins but i don’t think it did much for me. In fact i saw my load time on gtmetrix went up by 3 seconds more !

has a load time of 16 seconds according to gtmetrix. when i first installed a fresh wp, it registered 4 seconds load time. but as i eventually finished adding the plugins i needed, it hit 16 seconds….. so i’ve trying every trick i could think of to trim the numbers down o.O;
