    Hi Nile,

I’d like to try and track down the issue you are seeing. It our test environments, the plugin is working works fine in WP 3.3.1.

I’d like to see if we can discover if it’s a theme or another plugin causing a conflict.

If you’d be willing to provide us a little information as to your environment, that would greatly help!

I’ve been having difficulty with this plugin as well, using WP 3.3.1

Sometimes it works fine, I do have several maps in place with custom markers, info, etc, and they work fine. I love the customizing options!!

Other times, I fill out the info for the map, set a marker, and when I hit SAVE, the screen goes white and it stays there. I get warnings about info not being saved when I try to do anything to move forward, and the map is not saved.

Occasionally the map info will show in the visual or html editor, until I save (update)the post, then it disappears. And every now and then, when I click the “Create Map” in the sidebar or button on the toolbar, absolutely nothing happens.

I am building a custom child theme based on twentyten, with the following plugins activated:

    AddQuicktag
    All in One SEO
    BackupBuddy
    Edit Howdy
    Enhanced Meta Widget
    MapQuest Builder for WordPress (1.0.3)
    NextGEN Gallery
    Rotating Images
    Tailored Login
    wp-jquery-lightbox
    WP Table Reloaded

Thanks for any insight you can provide….

    Hi Sue,

Can you provide me the browser you are using as well? I’ll set up a similar environment and try to reproduce the issues.

We do have an update scheduled to go out next week that addresses some issues, but I’ll see if I can reproduce yours in the current release.

I’m using Firefox 9.0.1 – I can use another browser for my WP admin if you think that may give different results – I normally use FF when in the dashboard, but have the other browsers to see the site as users would.

**Quick update – I just tried to create a map using IE 9 – filled in all of the options, hit Preview and saw the map just fine, with my marker, then closed the preview box and hit Save, got a white screen and nothing… it can sit there for an hour or more (I waited that long!) and nothing changes.

    Hi Sue!

Thanks for the follow-up information. I’ve been able able to reproduce the main issue that blondishnet was seeing originally. They may be related to yours as well, though I haven’t been able to exactly reproduce the white screen.

When building the map, can you tell me which, if any, of the following features you were using inside Map Builder?
    * Custom icons (your own URL)
    * Drawing shapes/polygons
    * Adding text to map pin descriptions
    * Adding photos to map pin descriptions

    Thanks for your help!

    * Custom icons (your own URL) Yes
    * Drawing shapes/polygons No
    * Adding text to map pin descriptions Yes
    * Adding photos to map pin descriptions Yes

Just a note though, since it started “acting up” (and it did work well initially – I’m trying to remember if the issues started when I updated to 3.3.1?) I haven’t been adding all the extras, thinking that may be the issue. S0 I have tried just a basic location, with the stock icons, and only a title on the location, no pic or description. I am changing the map size for some posts.

    Hi Sue,

Thanks for the additional information. We’re taking a look at some logs to see if we can spot any errors on our end.

I’ll be committing a fix today for the tinyMCE editor issues, and when I do I’m curious if that helps your issue as well.

Map Builder 1.0.4 has just been uploaded to the WordPress system. You may have to clear cache to make sure the new JavaScript file gets loaded.

Let me know if that makes a difference on your issues!

    Hi Chip –
Thanks for the awesomely quick response on this… and here’s what I experienced when I updated the plugin and tried to create a new map on a post where it has been unsuccessful so far:

In html view, the “create new map” dialog on the right side of the post editing window did nothing – it appeared clickable but nothing happened. I switched to Visual, and used the toolbar button, and got the expected map with options to edit and customize. I added all the usual (address, custom marker, popup info, change size, right align) then hit save.

White screen. Wait. Nothing, so I hit Back, to go back to the map, and it was as if I had just opened up a new one – all my entered info was gone. :::sigh:::

Hit cancel, and surprise, surprise, the code for the map was added to the post (Visual view). I know because the new size was there in the parameters. I did a select and copy, then updated the post. The code disappeared after the update, so I switched to html, and pasted in the code, hit update, and it stayed.

Viewed the post, and the map is THERE as it should be. So, it IS working better, but I have to use the toolbar button in visual, copy the code and then save the post in html, kinda clunky. And it still white screens although it does create the map.

I am hesitant to tinker with already existing maps because I need to ADD markers to several already existing and I really don’t want to have to recreate the whole map… ??

Thanks again for your quick response!!

Further update – when I added a map to a different post, it worked, beautifully. So I got brave and tackled the homepage map and added points and it all seems to be working just fine. YAY!!

I have another question but that’s for another post, and I’m going to search and see if it’s already been asked and answered….

    Hi Sue,

Thanks for the update. It sounds like cache might have been the culprit on the existing issue, but I can’t say for sure. If the problem surfaces again, let me know!

    Chip D

I’m back again – maps on posts are showing, but I can’t edit the existing map – The box to Edit Existing Maps says “No maps found for this post” – yet I can see the shortcode and the map IS there. I want to change the map icon to our custom one, that IS working on other maps on the site.

I am using v. 1.0.5 of the plugin. The above information on plugins and theme is the same.

    Hi Sue,

I’m seeing that happen in a few of my older posts as well. It seems to only happen when I enter the post with the HTML view of the editor activated. When I toggle to the visual editor, the message is replaced with the list of maps in the post. Can you see if your maps register when switching editor modes?

    Thanks!

No, the same message appears in html and visual mode. I have screenshots of the editing page, and the actual post with the map showing, but it tells me there is no map found so I cannot edit the map.

Hi Sue. Thanks for the screenshots. I’ll investigate further here.
