Well, it’s different. Markdown on Save allows Markdown formatting on a per-post basis, and saves the Markdown markup separately. My plugin doesn’t do anything that fancy.

I wouldn’t recommend using this along with anything but P2, just because that’s the only way I use it right now.

Would you be interested in a plugin that added Markdown formatting only to comments? Perhaps that should be its own plugin, so one could use Markdown on Save and a Markdown for Comments plugin too.

It could be a nice idea. I know that Markdown formatted comments are transformed in plain html – so no need of a solution like Markdown on Save separating Markdown formated posts and the result . I asked Mark Jaquith to add this feature and he said it was a good idea… but no update for the moment ?? It’s a little frustrating because the original Fortin’s Markdown plugin does manage comments.

Alright, I’ll try whipping up a comments-only plugin here in a bit.

Thank you. Take care: it must be compatible with Markdown on Save.

I think it would be better for everyone if you could merge your work into WP-Markdown which already works with comments as well as bbPress 2 (still quirks to work out though).

WP-Markdown is also currently being tested on the official bbpress.org forum.
