• i’m running the same setup on 7(6 on namecheap and one on godaddy) different websites that have about 100-1000 people signed up and it works fine. the site that has 20,000+ people when i send a message it just pauses then gives me a internal error message(godaddy site). i’ve spoken with godaddy and they told me there is 2 mod rewrite errors. the same set up i am using is your plugin, wp mail from and wp mail smtp plugin. on the wp mail smtp plugin i have tried many different variations of setting it up. then i went and created the wordpress@mydomainname email but im not sure where to put it? smtp plugin? any suggestions? i would hate to delete the 20,000 people to start over.

another question. where are these emails coming from? do they send from your server? my godaddy server? general wordpress?

    Hi Brian,

Can you paste a copy of the text from the internal error you mention?

As to where the emails get sent from, the default is WordPress uses whatever PHP has configured on the server for sending mail. If you have an SMTP plugin installed, as you say you have, the plugin will allow you to override and send the emails from whatever SMTP server you specify. So your default would be that GoDaddy sends the mail, which is overridden by your SMTP plugin which uses whatever you’ve got it configured to use.

To use the wordpress@mydomainname email address you will need to configure your SMTP plugin; there should be instructions on doing this somewhere with the plugin, I should imagine.

The emails sent from your WP site hit the various Email 2 SMS gateways provided by the mobile/cell phone companies that each recipient is using and are converted there to SMS messages which are then sent to the phones. The Mediaburst servers are not involved in this free SMS plugin (the WP SMS for ecommerce plugins for WordPress eCommerce, Jigoshop and WooCommerce are a different matter and use Mediaburst’s paid SMS service which is more reliable and quicker… but costs money).

Hope all that helps… let me know if anything isn’t clear (also paste me that error message and I’ll take a look).

    Cheers,

    Simon

Forgot to say: mod_rewrite errors are very unlikely to be related to this issue.

Oh, and another thing ?? …do you know if any of the SMS messages are arriving?

If use the [email protected] how many emails can i send? On the six sites I know some emails are working but the site with a lot I’m not sure. I have on the smtp plugin a random email in it and it seems to work on the 6 sites even though I never put in its password or login details. If I install a smtp program on my computer how many emails can I send? Here’s the error: Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Apache Server at MYSITE.com Port 80

PHP is normally limited to an amount of time to finish everything it needs to do. Your site is sending 667 emails. The default execution time is 30 seconds, and I don’t think it is possible to send that many emails before timing out on most hosting setups. We are looking into altering the plugin to cope with this situation, and I’ll let you know here when we’ve got something to report.

As to the SMTP plugin… I suggest you look up the plugin page here on WordPress and follow any instructions, or ask a question of the developer in the forum here and hopefully they can help. At a guess, if you haven’t configured it then it isn’t working properly, if at all!
