• I have been pretty happy with this plugin but currently have it disabled since WordPress updated to version 5. The WPStatistics plugin is using too much memory for mobile visitors and causing page elements not to load. I think it is also failing to record some site visitors as well due to the memory usage.

I have UsageDD installed, which shows memory usage for logged in users, and I often activate it then deactivate it when testing memory usages issues. This site was using 12 to 15mb of memory for both Mobile and Desktop users on most pages on the site, but updating to WordPress 5 and PHP 7 caused the memory footprint to double, but the page load time cut more than in half.

I was running 12 to 15mb memory footprint with a load time of 0.6 to 0.75 seconds.
Now I am running 24mb memory footprint with a load time of 0.2 seconds.
But if I activate WP-Statistics, my load time stats change:
    27mb for desktop users
34mb for mobile users (and some parts that load dynamically fail)
Page load time doubles to 0.35 or 0.4 seconds for a page load.

    WP Statistics version 12.5.6
Gridblog by MyThemeShop is my theme
Using WP Review Pro 3.3.1 for reviews
    Website is https://www.YoungLlama.com

Why are mobile users using so much more memory when I activate the WP-Statistics plugin?

    Greetings,
A follow up with a little more information from another website.
This one is my church website (familyapostolic.org).
This site is running with the “Auberge” free theme and showing very
similar results under PHP7.1 with a slightly different version of
Wordpress (4.9.9). WP Statistics Version 12.5.6.

(stats roughly averaged over 2 to 3 loads)
Homepage on Desktop with WP-Statistics disabled – 25.5mb 0.23sec load
Homepage on Mobile with WP-Statistics disabled – 25.5mb 0.25sec load

Homepage on Desktop with WP-Statistics enabled – 28.6mb 0.35sec load
Homepage on Mobile with WP-Statistics enabled – 38.5mb 0.35sec load

    ———————————————–
Trying it with a different version of PHP on the same site…
PHP 5.6 (stats roughly averaged over 2 to 3 loads)

Homepage on Desktop with WP-Statistics disabled – 9.3mb 0.6sec load
Homepage on Mobile with WP-Statistics disabled – 9.3mb 0.5sec load

Homepage on Desktop with WP-Statistics enabled – 14.2mb 0.6sec load
Homepage on Mobile with WP-Statistics enabled – 26.4mb 0.7sec load

Concluding thoughts, I wish the memory footprint would not jump with the newer version of PHP, but the faster page load time makes for a noticeably snappier website. But with either version of PHP, the mobile memory footprint jumps significantly with WP-Statistics on both my wordpress sites running very different themes and plugins. It jumps with both PHP 5.6 and PHP 7.x too.

Why is WP-Statistics using so much memory and then another 10+ mb memory on mobile page loads on both versions of PHP?
