[Plugin: Members Only] compatible with 2.8?

Indeed, the author seems quite busy. However – I’m using the plugin with 2.8.1, and things seem to work fine.

Anyone using this with 2.8.4 ? Emergency upgrade and all but if we can’t use this plug in we need some other way to keep the entire site hidden other than for logged in users BEFORE upgrading.

Guys I’d really appreciate some help as I’m clearly missing something. I want to make the content of my site available to members I give a username and password to. Obviously I don’t want them to have access to the admin area. I’ve downloaded the Members-Only plugin but when I come to configure it the Login Redirect box gives the choice between the Dashboard or the Frontpage. If I set it to Dashboard I’m assuming that anyone will be able to access the admin area of my blog and if I set it to Frontpage I will be sent to the Frontpage and won’t be able to access the admin area.

I may be making this much more complicated than it actually is but I can’t see how I can have access to the admin area to make ongoing changes and give the users access to only the content. It seems to be either one or the other.

Set new user accounts to be ‘Subscriber’ (under Settings –> General), and they’ll only have access to the Dashboard, their profile, etc. They won’t see the posting interface, and they won’t see any settings or plugins.

This allows the Members Only plugin to work – only people with accounts on your site will have access to your content.

Give it a try – make a new account (under Users –> Add New) and log in using another web browser (or log out of your admin account, first). You’ll have very limited access to the WordPress interface, for the purposes of setting your profile details and getting your feed key, for RSS access.

Is there a way to make Members Only work on just one page within the site?

For example, a person clicking a “residents only” nav button from the publicly viewable home page would be required to login?

I want the public to have access to the site, and have just one or two pages password protected. And there have to be individual passwords for each user.

bestjimmy. I am not an expert, but I know that at least in the later versions of wordpress you can specify a password requirement per post, at the top right of the post edit admin screen. Not sure if you can do this for pages but worth a look.
