    This is a great plugin — I’ve been using it for a few years now.

    Quick question:

    Is there a way to remove capability for certain roles to not see selected menu items in the Admin UI?

    For example, I have the “Content Views” plugin installed and the “Contact Form 7” plugin installed. I cannot find a way to remove those menu items from the user role of “Author”.

    I’d also like to remove the Tools menu item as well.

    Contact Form 7 maps menu capability to the ‘edit_posts’ for the “Author” role. So its difficult to manage this via roles and capabilities. I suppose a similar reason for the mentioned “Content Views” plugin. I did not find it by name at www.ads-software.com/plugins.

    Pro version of User Role Editor allows to block access for the role to the selected admin menu items without excluding those capabilities from the role:
