• Hi.

I’ve searched high and low to find out why I don’t have a plugin menu in my admin login. I’m not sure whether I’m with WordPress.com (in which case I know I can’t have plugins) or if I’m with www.ads-software.com. I viewed my dashboard page source and found a few references to wp.org and none for wp.com so I’m pretty sure I’m with wp.org.

If I am with wp.org, I should have a menu for plugins as well as a tools menu, but I have neither. This came about because I uploaded a plugin (wp-tables reloaded) by ftp to the wp-content folder on the site and no plugin ever materialised in my dashboard area.

Can anyone shed some light on why I might be have trouble here?

    Thanks,

    Emlyn.

    Btw, the site is https://businesssafety.ie

  • If you are able to access your WP files, you are www.ads-software.com

wp.com doesn’t give you any ftp or file access

something may be amiss with your plugin directory

Rename it temporarily, make a new folder named plugins and visit your admin panel

    This will deactivate/reset your plugins

I logged out. Renamed the directory using Filezilla. Logged in / out, put the plugins folder back to “plugins”, logged back in. Still no joy. Any further suggestions?

Also, any ideas why I’ve no tools menu either?

    Thanks.

Nope, i’d assume it’s related…. next suggestion would be a reinstall

You can try just going to updates, and reinstalling the current version through the 1-click, that’s helped me before

Or downloading a fresh copy of WP. Deleting all your WP files on your server EXCEPT wp-config.php (in root) and the wp-content folder

Then uploading everything from that fresh download EXCEPT wp-config and wp-content folder

are you sure you are logged-in as ‘administrator’?

any lesser user role might not have access to plugins and tools.

lol… yeah, that probably would have been a good idea to check first eh?

    Thanks @alchymyth!!

Got it sorted folks. The designer disabled the menu. Since re-enabled in customised theme.

    Thanks all.

    Emlyn.

ahh, that’ll do it! Glad you were able to get it sorted!

My plugin menu is missing also. I am not sure I even had to it. How did you get it show?

    Hi ebonyalana,

I’ve a customised theme which had that option disabled / hidden. I got the theme designer to reactivate it.

    I have the same/similar issue.
I am logged in as the Network Admin (can see the dropdown at the top offering clickthroguh to all 4 sites), but I cannot see the Plugin menu.

I have checked the database (via phpmyAdmin) to see if any plugins are enabled (yes – domain mapping (which i am after) and wp importer); and they are active on a sitewide basis.

However I have no access to a plugins menu in my dashboard…
