The next release of Minecraft Validator will be its last major release. ??

But! That’s only because its functionality has outgrown the Minecraft Validator name. ?? I haven’t settled on a new name yet (any suggestions are welcome), but the new plugin will be modular and, as of now, support username validation and have Votifier integration through a shortcode (meaning you can parse and display a Votifier log). More features are in the works, but I needed that one so it got priority. Any other thoughts for possible features? Maybe the ability to do popup shortcode for items/potions/etc (like [diamond pickaxe] showing a popup that give the construction/stats/etc for a diamond pickaxe)? Something that hooks into MCBans? I dunno… you tell me!

  • I used to use Minotar WP plugin for minecraft avatars in WP but it doesn’t work with BuddyPress. I have attempted to get a hold of the developer to no avail. If you could manage to add this functionality and make it BuddyPress compatible, you’d be my absolute hero!

@nicofnot, I’ve added BuddyPress support for Minotar.

@ghost1227, I tried your Validator plugin and I must say, it’s really good! Looking forward to see your other projects. If you need any help just shout!

Thanks so much! Minotar does indeed work now!

@edvind Will do… I was planning on adding avatar support but I’d feel kinda bad stealing your thunder with that one…

@nicofnot Regardless of whether or not i include avatar support, the next plugin will support BuddyPress and (probably) bbPress at least to some extent. (Disclaimer… BuddyPress/bbPress support may not be in the initial release)

@everyone Current support that is either done or well under way for the new plugin is as follows:

    • Minecraft Validator (validates new users against minecraft.net)
    • Minequery Integration (adds a widget that displays server connection status, number and names of online players, latency, etc)
    • Votifier Integration (adds a pretty interface to display and possibly work with votifier log files)
    • Minetips (allows usage of shortcodes to display tooltips for Minecraft blocks and such i.e.: [mt:dirt] would display ‘dirt block’ with a tooltip displaying the info for the dirt block [block id, description, image, etc].)

Additional features I’m researching or considering:

    • Webauction Integration (allows the Webauction interface to be ’embedded’ into your WP site)
    • Dynmap Integration (allows Dynmap to be ’embedded’ into your WP site)

What else would everyone like to see?

    Interesting plugin.

Bit of searching turned up this URL you might consider using:

    https://login.minecraft.net/?user=USERNAME&password=PASSWORD&version=12

That will validate a minecraft username and password. Could be handy for integrating logins.

Very interesting link indeed! I knew you could verify usernames, but had no idea there was a URL for validating user/password combinations! Thanks!

I think there may be a problem with using it though, in that if you have minecraft running when you call that URL, it will invalidate that users existing session ID, meaning that their current running copy of minecraft won’t be able to connect to servers that are configured to verify paid accounts.

So it’s probably not something you want to call too often. Maybe only on registration of a new user, for example.

@edvind Mind contacting me off forum?

Can’t seem to find an email anywhere, but of course we can talk. Mail me at edvind at me dot com.

@ghost1227 Do you still maintain this? If not, is there a “new plugin” that has replaced it? This is pretty amazing, and I would like to contribute if possible. I’m a PHP developer with a bit of wordpress experience. I also run a minecraft server called “PiCraft”, and I use this plugin for verifying registrations.
