  • I just tried it on my setup and it worked when logged out.

    Link?

And it looks like this in the backend, in network admin:
    https://awesomescreenshot.com/046dqk3a8

which has different headings that you mentioned. Sure you got the right one? Or another one installed?

The screen shot did the trick. I had the plugin in the plugins folder instead of mu-plugins. The options showed up in the Site window Setting tab and didn’t seem to register when I chose one and saved. With the plugin in the right place everything works fine.

    Thanks again, Andrea.

Network activation would have worked too. Or should have, I think.

    Glad you found it.

I did do network activation first but didn’t look in the right place for the setting so I don’t know if it worked. It did put a radio button menu of privacy options on the Site Settings page which didn’t seem to work. That menu went away when I moved the plugin to /mu-plugins.

    Hello, guys.
I’m having the same problem as dkallaire had, but I see you’re talking about a /mu-plugins folder that I don’t have.
I’m running a multisite installation with two sites: https://www.belgranostudio.com.ar and bs.belgranostudio.com.ar
I need to make the second one private, only to registered users.
The plugin is network activated, and each one of the websites has it’s own different setting.
As you can prove, your’re gonna be able to visit both.
    Any advice, welcome!.
I’ve been looking for something like this for hours.
    Thanks a lot.
    Cheers!

It’s a 3.3.1 WP multisite, and the second site is BuddyPress.
    Perhaps this helps.

My site no longer exists and I haven’t worked with WP since July. Looking at the backup copy I still have, I think I created (AFTER backing up my site!) a folder called mu-plugins inside wp-content and put the ra-network-privacy.php there. I may have then deleted it and used Andrea’s suggestion of using network activation (AFTER backing up my site!) but I don’t remember.

I had one site (class.com) with several subdirectories. (class.com/studentname) so I don’t know if this will help in your situation.

dkllaire, thanks for your time in checking this out.
i moved the file, and now i’m getting a red sign that says it can’t find the file.
“El plugin network-privacy/ra-network-privacy.php se ha desactivado debido a un error: El archivo del plugin no existe.”

    I’ll keep trying.
    Thanks !

Visit the admin area of the site you want to make private. Go to Settings -> Privacy. What options show up and which one do you have checked?

    Hello, Andrea.
    Thanks for tuning in. ??
The admin of the site i want to make private says:

I would like my site to be visible only to Registered network users.
I would like my site to be visible only to Site subscribers.
I would like my site to be visible only to Site administrators.

    I’ve checked the first option.

I was taking a look at the plugins list, and i’ve got one called ‘login lock’ that adds some security options; and another called ‘page restrict’. I guess not, but perhaps it helps.

I’ll be waiting for your comments.
    Thanks!

    Deactivate your other plugins.

When I visit https://bs.belgranostudio.com.ar/ I see a BuddyPress Groups page.

    (@leosampieri)

You mean all the other plugins?. I’ll try it.
Yes, in bs.belgranostudio.com.ar there’s a BP group page as homepage.
    Thks!

I tried shutting down those plugins related with automatic redirects, login control, but none seemed to interfere with network privacy.
    Options welcome!.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I’m trying to make it work with a Buddypress site?

More Privacy Options plugin didn’t work either.
