  • Is https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/networks-for-wordpress/faq/ not working out? And then there is https://www.jerseyconnect.net/development/networks-for-wordpress/ ofcourse…

In any case, I’d be very interested in some deeper explanations of the pro’s and cons of each of the two methods described on the FAQ’s too. And if either is really necessary at all ??

Hmmm.. that’s a great point, RavanH. I haven’t looked at WP’s built-in site routing in a long time, and it has been much improved.

Unless you are trying to serve some sites (networks) from domains beginning with “www.” there should be no core modifications needed..

..as long as you ignore WP’s instruction to define the DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE, and PATH_CURRENT_SITE, of course. ??

I’ll update the documentation for the next release.

I currently have your plugin running on a network WITH stuff like DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE defined… it seems to be working just fine but…

Should I remove those lines from wp-config.php ?

Hmm.. defining the DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE and PATH_CURRENT_SITE should prevent WP from loading any site/network other than #1.

Do you have both those defined in the wp.config.php file and are still able to load multiple networks?

Yes, both those are defined… Still all works well. There are now two other networks (so 3 in total) configured and running fine.

Oh… maybe I should mention this is on WP 3.0.5 installed in /plugins/ and Network-activated ONLY on the main network because there is no need for other network super admins to (re-)configure / add new / mess up existing networks…

It would even be GREAT feature if I could prevent other super admins from even being able to activate the plugin. So effectively only allowing it to be active and managed from the main network. You know, the one running site #1 as defined in wp-config.php ??
