    It is not a scam. Just an unfortunate name clash. The developer of the original plugin should change the name of his plugin in the readme.txt file and issue an update asap to avoid this problem.

    Like I said the newsletter pro plugin update can only be downloaded from his site. So changing the readme.txt will not help people using the original newsletter pro plugin as they will not see this change.

    The only one who can prevent issues now is the new-plugin uploader.
    Simply put an message in the upgrade notice that it is not the same plugin.
