[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Activating disables a lot of Admin functionality

Every time I activate the NextGen plugin, almost all of the functionality in my post, page, link, and most importantly, media library ceases to work. I have my own custom theme, but every other plugin I use works fine. It’s just whenever I activate this one, almost all functionality (besides adding plain text) goes out the window. It worked fine before I updated both the plugin and wordpress, but after updating both to the latest releases, it breaks everything.
