[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Anything JS and Flash-related does not work…?

Hi!

Thought my search for a great gallery plug came to an end, but not yet… ran into some severe probs with nggallery.

Anything javascript or flash-dependent does not work for me.

Slideshow gives the dreaded “you need the flashplayer…” stuff (and yes, the wp_head thingy is called in header.php, I tried the standard theme as well – same result).

displaying the image list works, clicking an image does just open the image, no thickbox effect or any other.

Uploading: no way to upload more than one image, the batch uploader just pretends not to be there… ??

Can not see anything special in my config, WP 2.51 on a standard linux box. Custom theme, but the probs are there with standard Kubrick as well…

On client side I tried Firefox and Opera, both on Mac and Windows, all with latest flashplayer installed and JS enabled…

I am at a complete loss… any ideas?
