• I’m running WP 2.7.1 with theme Atahualpa and NexGEN Gallery Version 1.2.1. My install of the gallery works wonderfully, until I need a second page for anything in the front end or the back end of the site. When it tries to go to that next page, the link is broken.

I have the same software installed on another website and all the links work beautifully. The site that doesn’t work has WP installed in the root directory, and I have talked to one other user who has the same problem and also notes that his WP is installed in the site root. The other user has tested various themes and has the same issue regardless of theme. I have tried several different permalink settings and nothing has fixed it. It’s like nexGen Gallery doesn’t know how to link to other pages when it needs to.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply!

Here’s a link to my personal page, with the links functioning as they should:
    https://jamiesdesigns.com/wordpress/?p=483

And here is a link to a multipage gallery on the problem site:
    https://balartists.com/?p=604

You can see that the “next” and “page 2” links at the bottom of the gallery just take you back to the blogroll. However, on the admin side, the “next page” links just hang and never load – makes managing large amounts of galleries or images nearly impossible. Email me at [email protected] if you would like to take a look at the backend of the site. I’d love to hear any ideas, and thanks!

I did a test and installed another copy of WP on a folder on the server. And it did the same thing, so my root directory idea is bad. I’m thinking may it has to do with a setting on my server? I have a windows server from GoDaddy that they supposedly recommended to me because it was compatible with WP. It has the following settings:
    Windows
    Hosting Type: Shared Hosting
    .Net Runtime Version: ASP.Net 2.0/3.0/3.5
    PHP Version: PHP 5.x
    IIS Version: IIS 7.0

My blog that works has these settings:
    Linux
    Hosting Type: Shared Hosting
    Hosting Configuration: 2.1
    PHP Version: PHP 4.x

Any ideas about what I should try next?

I am having the same problem on all of my sites using NexGen gallery since updating to 1.3.1. I am curious if it is possible to role back to 1.3.0

Though I am optimistic for a patch

    Quick update:

The problem can be fixed by deleting the NexGen folder and re-uploading version 1.3.0. If you already installed 1.3.1 In order to make the gallery stop nagging you to ‘upgrade’ find the nggallery.php from version 1.3.1 and upload it to the Nexgen folder

    Fixed/patched/whatever it works.

    One more update/apology

    I replaced the faulty 1.3.1 with files from V1.2.1 – 22.03.2009
Sorry if that caused any inconvenience, I can no longer edit the above posts to correct the error

It appears the problem with the next page links is the link is not including the source location on the url.

Take the example where the number of images for a tag (e.g. tag=2004) goes over 1 page.
The page 1 url looks like this:
    https://domain.com/tag-cloud/?gallerytag=2004

The link on page 2 looks like this:
    https://domain.com/tag-cloud/?nggpage=2 (which fails)

    It should look like this:
    https://domain.com/tag-cloud/?gallerytag=2004&nggpage=2

I would love to help and provide the required code change but I don’t know how to do that.

Does anyone know how to update the code to fix this up?

    Terry.

    Yaay!! I’ve fixed my site!

I called my host and had them move my site to a Linux server. Cleared it right up. They said that WordPress was happier on a Linux server. That also solved a funny issue I had with not being able to serach my posts in the backend of the site.
