• Hi all,

After a galery is created, I want to link it using the “Page Link to:” option in the “Manage Galery >> Gallery Settings” menu to a page which is already created, but it isn′t working. After clicking on the “Update” button, the gallery tag isn′t inserted in that page. I have to do it manually.
But if I use the “Create new page:” option, the plugin links the gallery to this new page adding the gallery tag “[nggallery id=x]” automatically.

    Is it a known behaviour?

If is a wanted behaviour, what is the purpose of “Page Link to:” option?

If you use albums and would like to link to a page (instead of render the gallery on the same page), then this page id will be used

alexrabe, I′m sorry, but I don′t understand what you say. If the “Page Link to:” option is only used to refer a gallery into an existing album, why it have a dropdown menu to choice in what page it will be linked?

To be flexible if you change something in your page structure…

Alex, I think I understand the purpose of the “page link to” field but it seems to not be working. My expectation is that clicking on the respective gallery will take you to the page you assign, rather than pass parameters in the URL. But I am not getting this behavior to work.

For example, check album at link below
    https://mysite.komotion.com/gallery/

Click on first gallery takes user to
    https://mysite.komotion.com/gallery/?album=1&gallery=7

    Instead of taking them to
    https://mysite.komotion.com/gallery/fairytale/

…even though I select that gallery “page link to” the ‘fairytale’ page. You can see that I have made those pages available in the menu bar at the top of the page.

I do not see any behavior change at all if I go to the plugin’s Manage Gallery, go to the Fairytale gallery and select a different page from the “Page Links to” drop-down.

    ISSUE
The main negative consequence is the little breadcrumb navigation above the gallery becomes useless. Particularly in a deeply nested album breadcrumbs would be very useful to keep evidence of where you are and how you can move ‘up’ in the nested hierarchy.

I have latest version of the NextGEN Gallery and WordPress.

Am I missing something? If this is not how I am supposed to use the ‘Page Link To’, is there another way to achieve what I need – clicking on a gallery will show the gallery in its page and the URL show that page.

    Thanks!

I found it! Doing some Google searches I came accross a comprehensive review at https://dpotter.net/technical/2008/03/nextgen-gallery-review-image-management/ and based on that I realized you have a specific checkbox in the Options menu, on the Gallery tab.

    In conclusion, 2 things:
    – Case solved
    – More importantly, thank you for an amzingly awesome piece of work – I am grateful for you contribution

Alex, I guess I still have one query: how can I assign a page to an album?

As you can see I have a nested structure and I think that only albums can have children, not galleries. Albums can contain other albums or galleries.

My main album has two child albums: Travel and Abstract but I can’t figure out how to assign a page to them. In looking at the Manage Albums section I see three fields for each album – Name, Title and Page. Page is empty but I don’t see how to assign a page to the album.

    Please advise.

Aha, figured this one out too. It is the second time I missed the little ‘Edit’ button that appears next to the drop-down selector in the Manage Albums screen. I guess the button is not always displayed there (if no album selected)…

Case solved (until next time ??
