[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Custom Thumbnail Aspect Ratio

When I’m in Manage Gallery, It looks like it is not possible to custom-crop an image thumbnail without keeping the aspect ratio that is set in Options >> Thumbnails. This is a real drag.

If I’ve set the Width x Height maximum values for thumbnails to be 40 x 30 (i.e. 4:3) – whether the “Set fix dimension” box is checked or not – then all thumbnails are forced to be in the 4:3 aspect ratio.

I’d like to custom crop some thumbnails to be long, and others to be tall, but the cropping tool in Manage Gallery >> edit thumb will not allow it. It forces the 4:3 aspect ratio. Total bummer.
