[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Display first x images from gallery

Hi – I want to show a preview of a gallery on each post. This should be as simple as limiting the number to display, but the function to limit the return doesn’t appear to exist and I’d rather not modify the plugin so that it’s still safe to update it.

Any ideas?
