My memory limit on the server is 20 Mb, but when uploading a 3100 x 1744 (2.13 Mb) photo will give the following error when creating the thumbnail:

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 52953088) (tried to allocate 3100 bytes) in … /wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/lib/gd.thumbnail.inc.php on line 183

The photo is actually uploaded and opens in the gallery; but no thumbnail. The error message also shows when clicking on “Edit thumb”.

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 53215232) (tried to allocate 4204 bytes) … gd.thumbnail.inc.php on line 927

I am using WordPress2.9-rare and NextGEN Gallery Version 1.4.0a, but the error happens in previous versions too. If the same photo is resized to lower pixels (3000 x 1688 pixel, 2.02 Mb), it works fine.

  • You don’t have a limit of 200MB, as you can see from the error message your limit is 52 MB and your current usage is already 25.86 MB. whatever you have set in php.ini or elsewhere… it will be ignored.

You are right, Alex. iPower sets my limit to 52 MB. I am trying to have them increase it.

I temporarily increased my available memory by deactivating other plugins, and no error show now. (WordPress2.9-rare and NextGEN Gallery Version 1.4.0a)

This is an awesome plugin! Congratulations, and thanks Alex.
