[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Help with slideshow customization

  • I’m trying to have a slideshow play in certain way. The slideshow should pull the images from a gallery, and certain size, and a bunch of other parameters. I got some of it working… but not all, I’m hoping somebody can help me out.

    Currently I do this:

    [slideshow id=2 w=480 h=360]

    I’d like to use some of the features from the flash player to add these features:

    – random play of those images (shuffle in jw terms)

    – I want that when an image is displayed, and its clicked I would like to be able to link it to a page related to that picture, instead of popping out the image with lightbox. Is this doable? with nextgen and the jw flv media player?

    Can anyone help me add “shuffle” to the way I’m doing the slideshow? And is the linking to a specific page per image doable at all?

    I don’t mind getting my hands dirty in code and stuff if you want to help me out, or if you think there’s a better plugin to do this I’m also open to suggestions! I need a set of images displayed on the home page, automatically rotating (preferably non-flash but flash will do), with the ability to go back to the previous one. Clicking on an image should take me to a specific page. I’ve seen this done but I can’t find an example right now to show you…

    you can set globally shuffle or not ->admin->gallery->options->slideshow or for individual switching look here down the page: https://nextgen.boelinger.com/custom-fields/
    With linking on images i dont know.

    Hi! Thanks a lot for getting back to me. I’m looking at the custom fields now. The global shuffle is good for now, since I only have one place where the slideshow would be used. I’ll have to look at this later if I want to add different slideshows elsewhere with different parameters.

    I’ll do some more digging around about linking out to a page when you click on the image.

    When I have an update, I’ll post back.

    thanks, the shuffle thing worked… I didn’t realize all those options were available right there.

    it ends up streching the images for some reason and doing like a “ken burns” effect, but I think I just have to figure out the stretching part of it or whatever.

    next up onto the custom fields.
