  • Hi Joe,
The screen prints I was thinking of are my gallery plugin settings so you can try and reproduce the “clicking on a thumbnail & going to the image with text, then clicking takes you to the jpg” effect. If you want them let me know.

There’s not really anything to see for the gallery-caption.php edit which was documented earlier.

One other thing I did for my page presentation was to turn off sidebars. I thought it looked better. Turning sidebars off or on seems to break my page links so I had to update permalinks after doing that.
    Regards,
    Mike.

    MiKe,
Sure, the screen shots for the gallery plugin settings sound helpful.
Will this be the following or others:
    Editing nextgen-gallery/nggallery.php
    and
    nextgen-gallery/view/gallery-caption.php

Again, I’m interested in your sequence – “clicking on a thumbnail & going to the image with text, and if you click on the image you go to the jpeg.”
    Thank you
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
Visit https://japanese-art.blog107.com/nextgen-gallery-settings/ to see screen captures of my nextgen gallery settings.

I guess something in there gives me the “clicking on a thumbnail & going to the image with text, and if you click on the image you go to the jpeg.” effect.

    Regards,
    Mike.

    Hi all,
I’ve changed my domain name so if you use the links above (https://japaneseartsgallery.com …..) you will be redirected to a matching page on https://japaneseartsgallery.com – just thought I’d mention that in case anyone was concerned about being redirected.
    Regards, Mike.

    This worked for me, too:

    <span><?php echo $image->aalttext ?></span>

    Hi Dan,
Did you really mean (double a) ‘aalttext’? I tried it out but I didn’t get any text under my thumbnails so either that variable is empty in my setup or it doesn’t exist.

I also had to use ‘alttext’ higher up in the code to replace ‘decription’ in the href title attribute field as my use of long image descriptions causes problems in several modules. I opened a topic on that at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/plugin-nextgen-gallery-image-description-being-used-as-title-and-caption?replies=2#post-1850490 as I feel description, titles and captions are not being used as one would expect them to be used.

    Regards, Mike.
