[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] hyphenated alt text

I’ve seen the question asked before but have not found an answer. When i upload an image, spaces in the file name are replaced with hyphens and the uppercase letters replaced with lowercase. I’m sure there is a reason and it is okay with me but after than is done, the alt text is set to the new hyphenated name. Is there a way to leave or set the alt text to the original file name?
