[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Image open in gallery on second click only

I insert an image.

Either through the “add image” function in posts/pages or through the Nextgen gallery.

I preview or publish the post/page The images display fine. I select an image and click on it for the first time and it doesn’t launch lightbox (installed) or the nextgen gallery (if in a gallery) but opens the image in the same browser tab. I go back and try again and the gallery viewer will launch. It seems to be that gallery viewers only work from the second click onwards.

How do I ensure it works on the first click?
