[Plugin: NextGen Gallery] Open Lightbox-Type Effect in New Tab

I’m building a photo-heavy site. I’m using NextGen Gallery’s Image Browser. Instead of the typical Lightbox-Type pop-up, my client wants clicking on the image to take the visitor to a new tab with a full screen image and navigation arrows. Is this possible?

As a backup, I could do something similar without the nav arrows. The default of opening to the full-size image in a new tab worked fine until we realized it didn’t display nicely on iPad.
