• So I have one gallery on a page, under gallery options “The gallery will open the ImageBrowser instead the effect” is checked and image browser is working.

Under general options “When you activate this option, you need to update your permalink structure one time. Gallery slug name: nggallery”
is checked then I click the “proceed now” button and it does its thing, I head to permalinks in the main WP settings menu and save once.

However the permalinks in the ImageBrowser are like this: /gallery/?pid=5
when I’m expecting a pretty permalink. Tried a few things (disabled other plugins etc and options with no joy.

Does nextgen write something to htaccess?

    Any help appreciated.

Awesome plugin, would love to get some feedback on this.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Install All in One SEO and it will solve your ugly-permalinks issue, I believe that is all your missing.

Let me know if this works.

    @bob33

Did you manage to solve the issue?
Looking forward to have some help on changing ugly ?pid= permalink in imagebrowser too.

Here’s my photo site a sample:

    Thanks in advance!

In the end we didn’t use the imagebrowser.

From memory, pretty sure AIOSEO didn’t make any difference – I know it can ‘rewrite’ titles, but as far as I’m aware doesn’t rewrite urls/slugs.

Happy to be proven wrong on that.

Yes it does re-write urls for next gen. For example the web site I am working on right now, the urls are like this…

    mysite.com/pictures/asian-model-pictures/grace-park-pictures/

And an image is like this: mysite.com/pictures/asian-model-pictures/grace-park-pictures/hq/image/grace-park-photo-020

Try it again and let me know whats going on.

To manually re-write the slugs to anything you want, there is an extra plugin for that I use sometimes(to remove things like /category/)

There is a plugin called Custom Permalinks that works quite well(sometimes you might have to delete the permalink and recreate it again but it always ends up working)

Also make sure your settings for ‘permalink’ in the admin — make sure you are NOT using the default which then displays the ugly ?/p=123 type links.
