Hello – I just installed NextGen Gallery (ver. 0.96 I’m guessing) today and am loving it for the most part but have a question regarding the image thumbnails that are generated by the plug-in. Is there a way to adjust what part of the image is captured for the thumbnail? I ask because several of my thumbnails are very oddly composed (i.e. a strange part of the image has been captured) which makes it nearly impossible to tell what the overall picture looks like/is. This is not helpful to people viewing my images, and I don’t like the way it looks. Ideally it would be great if the thumbnail would just be a miniaturized version of the whole picture, but if that’s not possible, then it would be great if I could choose which part of the image I would like to use as the thumbnail.

Any ideas? I greatly appreciate the help! Thank you.

  • If you go to gallery -> options -> Thumbnail settings and uncheck
“Ignore the aspect ratio, no portrait thumbnails”
you will get the whole picture as thumbnail. Of course crop square thumbnail needs to be unchecked too.

Awesome, thank you for your help!

the issue with this is that the layout is all-screwed up when the gallery is displayed on a page due to the image size.
