[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Sort Order in Gallery not working

I have the same problem: when trying to sort the images in a gallery, by no matter which criteria (unsorted, filename, asc, desc, …), and then click “update”, it always snaps back to “Unsorted – Ascending” and returns to a default sorting order, and it won’t save my custom order.

I personally feel that this is a pretty important issue and would appreciate any kind of feedback.

Oh yeah, I am using NextGEN 1.3.5 and this is how I upgraded from the previous version:
1.) upgraded to the newest WP version
2.) then disabled the NextGEN
3.) deleted the existing files in the ../plugins/nextgen/
4.) then copied the newest version to this folder
5.) and lastly activated the plugin once more

Everything seems to be working just fine except sort order.

I have the same problem. Image sorting on gallery is not working.
I’m running NextGen gallery 1.2.1 on WordPress MU 2.7.

You should always use the latest NGG version, please disable all other plugins for a test

/nextgen-gallery/admin/js/sorter.js line 242:

jQuery('input[@name=sortorder]').val(serial);

syntax error – the @ is no longer supported as of jQuery 1.3, just remove the @ and it works..until you can upgrade of course!

I’m using the latest version of NGG, downloaded and checked the js file and line 242 of the newest version doesn’t have the @ symbol…I’m having the same issues…can’t re-order my images. Everytime I sort and then click “update sort order”, they revert back to the original settings. I’m running WP 2.8.4 and the latest version of NGG.

Any other thoughts?

Please disable all other plugins. Try it then again…

Hi I’m using the latest NGG and WP 2.8.4. I have uploaded a few images to test the gallery/show a client and the images have uploaded except there are no thumbnails – they are not viewable in ‘Manage Gallery’ or on the page (on the page is just a box with the file name) Clicking on the thumbnails on the gallery page shows the large images. When the files were uploaded it said it was successful but at the same time next to each image ID there was a message “A failure occurred” and a message ‘[object XMLHttpRequest]’. This also comes up if I try to create a new thumbnail. Any ideas what might be the issue here please?

FWIW I have the exact same problem, and found this thread while looking for a solution.

I just tried the solution given by wallace.crain above, removing the @ symbol, and it now works fine!

I too have exactly the same problem. I’m in WordPress 2.8.4 with NextGen 1.3.5. I have tried disabling all plugins. I have tried the solution given by wallace.crain above but there is no @ symbol in the js. Anyone found a solution as yet? Thank you.
