• Recently upgraded to 1.3.6 version of NextGen.

Works fine from admin side. Activated the plugin sidewide. Now when non-admin users try to manage their gallery, they are directed to this message:

    ‘Upgrade NextGEN Gallery

The script detect that you upgrade from a older version. Your database tables for NextGEN Gallery is out-of-date, and must be upgraded before you can continue. If you would like to downgrade later, please make first a complete backup of your database and the images.

The upgrade process may take a while, so please be patient.
    Start upgrade now…’

I see this also when back-ending a user’s blog. Clicking ‘start upgrade now’ claims to upgrade successfully but then loops back to the error page detecting an older version.

Tried uninstalling, deleting, and reinstalling the plugin to no avail.

    Any ideas?

  • Alex, I am having this same issue.

I am using latest version of NextGEN Gallery (v.1.5.5) with latest version of WP (3.0.1) with MU activated.

I click Network Activate for the plugin and for the master site all seems well. But all subsites can’t get out of the “upgrade loop”.

This is a new setup/installation and I do not have any content I need to keep, at least in terms of images/galleries.

I also tried moving /wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/ to /wp-content/mu-plugins/nextgen-gallery/ but then I don’t even see the plugin appear at all in the WP Admin Panel.

Is there any trick to correctly install NextGEN Gallery for WP3 MU?

    Please advise…

    Found solution from another thread:
    https://mu.www.ads-software.com/forums/topic/15437

Basically log in as SuperAdmin in the Subsite showing issue, go to Plugins and Deactivate, then Network Activate again the NGG plugin.

I guess I deleted the plugins, my customizations and database tables unnecessarily trying to fix the harder way…

Good to have it working again!

have you tested the latest beta ???

How do you log in as the SuperAdmin? I am the one and only admin for my site and still don’t get the “network activate” option. I am using the latest beta.

try version 1.5.5, seems to be you have the standard WordPress installation

Thanks for all your hard work Alex! The current version of NGG 1.6.0 is working great with WP 3.0.1 in multi-site mode after a simple “Deactivate Sitewide” and re-“Network Activate”.

    Love your work!

For anyone that is still having issues with this and none of the above fix it, I think it’s caused by having a non-default table prefix on your WordPress installation.

All my tables were prefixed with ng_ and it looped around the before-mentioned upgrade error.

You can rename your table prefix with WP Prefix Changer v1.1 Plugin by Blog Security.net.

    or

Configure it manually by following this handy guide: 6 Simple Steps To Change Your Table Prefix In WordPress.

You’ll probably have to change it to the default “wp_” prefix to get it to work. I haven’t tested it yet myself, but I think it might work.

Thanks OldBoyGLA i think you just gave me a solution to my problem. I am missing the Import Image Folder option all of sudden and have been trying to trace where i might have changed something.

Turns out i recently changed the default wp_ prefix to something else for extra security.. maybe this also influences how nextgen imports folders?

No good. Nextgen stil does not allow me to Import image folder even when i changed the table prefix back to wp_

I hope Alex might find the time to shed some light on this as i do not know how to solve this.
