[Plugin: Nivo Slider for WordPress] How to activate/display the slider?

I have download the plugin and uploaded my pictures. I have also included the “<?php if (function_exists(‘nivoslider4wp_show’)) { nivoslider4wp_show(); } ?>” to my themes index.html file.

How do I get the slider to appear on my wordpress site? I have a static page which acts as my home page.
