First, I want to say thanks for a great plugin. This is exactly what we need for our organization.

Unfortunately, it seems to have stopped working. When looking up bills, nothing can be entered except the state. Nothing displays with the shortcode anymore, either. Maybe the plugin isn’t compatible with newer versions of WordPress? I also saw that API keys are required again, so I did get an Open States API key to see if that would fix the problem. Unfortunately, it didn’t.

Is there any chance this excellent plugin is going to be updated in the future?

It does look like some things aren’t working. This is purely a labor of love, so I haven’t had much time to maintain it lately. But now that the Open States API is more stable after their move, I will try to figure out what’s going on later this week. Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to me, Dan. I totally understand the labor of love thing. If you’re ever able to work on this again, I’m sure many of us would be grateful. If not, I completely understand that, too.

The only problem I had on my test machine is that I needed to register a new API key with Open States at their new API Registration page (https://openstates.org/api/register/). The plugin will no longer work without a valid API key.

I pushed an update (1.3.2) to change some of the links and text to refer to the Open States API key (instead of the Sunlight Foundation). Please let me know if it still does not work for you.

Thanks for taking a look, Dan. The shortcode for upper and lower chambers is working, as is the address lookup, which is great! Bill tracking isn’t working, though. When I go to Add A Bill or All Bills, I get this message:

“You must set a valid Open States API Key in Settings for these pages to work.”

Being able to list legislators is awesome, though. Again, thank you for a super useful plugin.

Thanks for letting me know! This is why I should always have a formal test plan to verify a “fix” didn’t break some other part of the code.

I just pushed 1.3.3 to correct this issue. I still don’t have a formal test plan, but I did a little more thorough testing this morning and everything looks like it works. Please let me know if you find any other problems. Thanks again!
