Like other reports, the latest update to this plugin (4.5.1) triggers an error message “Stripe is not available in your store’s country and will not be available for buyers to choose during checkout.”

My site is set to “Philippines – Cebu” and has not faced this issue before. I think this is because I (and my bank account) are based in New Zealand, but you are assuming the country locale is where the Stripe account is actually located.

That’s just one example – we have sites in around 100 countries and this update breaks a huge number of them.

    Hey there!

In our collaboration with Stripe, the plugin checks the Stripe account you are connecting for the address in the account, and verifies it with the store locale. If they don’t match up, then it will not verify the account and will not process like that .

I understand, but that is not helpful. In this scenario, there could be support to set a stripe account locale separate from the store locale. In my example, that would mean I could set New Zealand as the Stripe locale and it would work even though the store locale is the Philippines. I see others in this forum have the same need.

    Hi @ablears

This is correct – the Store Address for WooCommerce is what is used by the Stripe payment gateway to be the country and address for the merchant account.

Registering a business with the payment gateway merchant in one country and then operating in another isn’t a discussion we can help with.

The Stripe plugin hasn’t “worked” in the Philippines before, the difference was that the plugin didn’t check the country previous to this release – only the currency to ensure other payment methods were successful. Now we have added a list of supported countries that matched the list on the Stripe.com website that are general availability (i.e. countries that aren’t marked as Preview) – https://stripe.com/global

If you’d like to add “support” to have the store address in the Philippines, you would need to add the two-letter country code to the list of supported countries. As this isn’t a preview/invite-only country on Stripe.com list, we’re unable to provide the exact snippet for this.

    Thanks,
