The hidden files in that ZIP file you sent me were all 4k binary (they looked like there were meant to be directories but they were files). None of those files contained malware though. Can you post some of the malicious code that you saw in those files?

I understand what you mean, those files were all the same and looked like OS files. But they all had the word quarantine in them and that’s why I am worried.

Anyways, I deleted them all and for the moment none have come back. However, I am still getting spam user sign ups without any login forms so there still must be a bug in my site. I’m at my wits end, I don’t feel like doing any development with all these security issues.

Is it normal to recieve constant spam comments and fake user sign ups with WP? Maybe there isn’t any bug and it’s just me or the plugins I use.

I really don’t know much about WP, I used to use Joomla but everyone I spoke to was on WP so I switched… tried to switch.

It is actually pretty normal to get a lot of spam comments on your WP site. Even getting bogus user signups is fairly common if you have “Anyone can register” checked in your Setting.

I think most people use Akismet, I used to too, but I got a lot of span comments that were slipping through. I now use Stop Spam Comments and I love it! It a super simple plugin that does an awesome job.

Let me know if there’s anything else.

    Aloha, Eli
