Plugin Not Updating

  • I cannot upload new theme or plugin .zip files through the WordPress dashboard. Both ftp and ftps are discouraged by my hosting provider. Thus, I use a third-party tool to use sftp to upload theme and plugin files directly to the appropriate wordpress directory location.

    After finding easy-theme-and-plugin-upgrades I installed and activated it. I then uploaded the .zip file of a new plugin upgrade to the plugins directory. But there it sits. Is there something else that needs to be done to “trigger” the upgrade process?

    Instructions on how to upgrade themes and plugins can be found under the FAQ section on this page.

    I recommend that you remove the zip file that you manually uploaded to the plugins directory as it will not be needed. The primary benefit of this plugin is that it can perform upgrades without having to have access to FTP or similar methods of file management. Instead, the upgrade is done from inside the WordPress dashboard.
