plugin not working after 4.5 update – jQuery error needs fixed?

Have Envira Gallery lite plugin and since updating to wordpress 4.5 it’s no longer working properly. Their support forum states that the problem is jQuery errors in some wordpress themes which are now causing problems in wordpress 4.5 which uses the latest version of jQuery 1.12 – read this for explanation:
So it looks like the twentysixteen theme needs to be updated to fix this error? Is this the case? And if so, is it likely to happen soon?
