Plugin not working, nothing imported

    I used ‘Export Users to CSV’ to export my users.

    I opened the csv in Excel to check it – all good, everything there.

    I tried to import the csv into a fresh site using ‘Import Users to CSV’ and it didn’t work – nothing imported. So, I tried a bunch of things, like re-saving the csv via Excel into Windows csv, MS-DOS csv etc. but no go.

    That user table has about 200 users, and data for facebook authentication, so I thought I should try a more basic import for testing purposes.

    So I set up a fresh install, made a few users, exported, checked the csv, all good. Then wiped my install, set up again, and tried to import the users csv into a fresh site. This time the users were imported, but could not be accessed in admin, presumably because role data had not been imported with the list.

    Altogether a frustrating experience (especially since the ‘Export Users’ plugin seems to work perfectly), and with 2 hours of trying, I was unable to successfully import a single user.

    I should also mention that the error log has been empty throughout.

    If I understand correctly, the first time you tried, no user was imported, and the second time, users were imported but were hidden in the admin.

    Here is my guess of what happened:

    – for the first try, the plugin couldn’t read the CSV format you used. This explains why the error log was empty. If the plugin can’t read the CSV format, it’s the same as if you submitted an empty CSV.

    -for the second try, the plugin could read the CSV format but, as you guessed it, it couldn’t import the role. Can you show me a sample of what you put in the role column in the CSV?
