[Plugin: oEmbed for BuddyPress] plugin seems to do nothing at all; where do I begin troubleshooting?

In my Buddypress forums I’ve created topics and included links to YouTube videos. The topic simply displays the link, nothing more. Following the link simply goes to a full-screen version of the video.

I have no clue where to begin troubleshooting this.
